Play 1v1 Duel1v1 FPS games online: what xFPS offers
Plenty of 1v1 shooting games online are third-person, or let you build walls mid-fight. xFPS is the other kind: a first-person shooter with modern military movement and gunplay. Sprint, slide, mantle, aim down sights. Fights are decided by aim, positioning and timing, and a close-range rifle kills in about a quarter of a second.
It runs in the browser (you need WebGL and JavaScript), so a 1v1 FPS on the web is one click away. You can play as a guest and sign in later if you want account progress.

How 1v1 Duel works
You and one opponent, one life each. The first kill wins the round, both players reset with full health and a full magazine, and the next round starts. First to 10 round wins takes the match.
One rule catches people out: if you die by your own hand, such as your own frag or a fall, the round goes to your opponent exactly as if they had killed you. Cook grenades carefully.
Maps, bots and finding an opponent
Quick Duel plays on four compact arenas: Cargo, Barricade, Crown and Stackyard. They are small by design, so you find each other fast. Quick Play looks for a human first; if nobody is free after about five seconds, you get a Hard or Sweats bot instead, and once your duel starts nobody can take over your opponent's seat. You can also play Duel offline against a bot from Practice.
Picking a class for a duel
Any gun you have unlocked is allowed: rifles, SMGs, the M249, shotguns, snipers and the MK2 lever-action, plus your sidearm, a frag, a tactical and three perk slots. A rifle, an SMG, a sniper and a shotgun are open from level 1, and more guns unlock as you level up. Change class from the pause menu (Esc). The change applies at once if you are within 20 seconds of spawning and have not fired or been hit; otherwise it is queued for the next round. That makes Duel a counter-pick game: lose a round to a shotgun on Crown, and you can answer with something that wins at the range you prefer.

How 2v2 Gunfight works
Gunfight is a 2v2 round mode built for fairness. All four players get the same random main weapon, sidearm, frag and either a flash or a smoke. The kit stays for two rounds, then changes to a different main weapon, and the teams swap ends every two rounds. There are no custom classes, perks, killstreaks or health regeneration.
Each round has 40 seconds of play. Equipment unlocks 5 seconds in. If both teams are still standing at 40 seconds, a 10-second overtime starts and a flag appears: stand in its zone alone, without an enemy in it, for 3 seconds to win the round. If an enemy steps in, the capture resets. If nobody captures, the team with more total health left wins, and equal health is a draw with no point. First to 6 round wins.
The kit pool includes the M4, AK-47, SCAR-L, FAMAS, MPX, P90, M870 shotgun, L115A3 sniper and MK2. Quick Play fills missing seats with Hard or Sweats bots after a few seconds, and a ranked Gunfight queue is open to signed-in players at level 20.

Pre-aim where they will be
Before you clear a corner, put your crosshair at head height on the exact edge your opponent will appear from. The player who has to move their crosshair onto the target loses most fights, and small arenas have only a handful of real angles to learn.
Strafe, but know the cost
Movement in xFPS has directional penalties: strafing is 30% slower than moving forward, and backpedaling is 40% slower. Aiming down sights slows you further. A moving target is still harder to track, so use short strafes to peek and return to cover, not long ones in the open.
Peek with information
Footsteps are positional and louder when someone runs. If you heard them sprint left, pre-aim left. If you want to stay unheard, walk the last few meters, or run Dead Silence, which cuts how far your steps carry.
Use health regen, and deny it
In Duel, health starts refilling after 5 seconds without taking damage. If you win a trade but drop to low health, break line of sight and let it refill before the next peek. If you hit them and they back off, push now: wait 5 seconds and you are fighting a full-health opponent again.
Pick the gun for the arena
Up close, the fastest rifles win: in our tuning the AMAX kills in about 200 ms, the AK-47 in about 233 ms and the M4 in about 217 ms. The M4 (open from level 1) needs an extra round past 30 m, while the AK keeps its three-round chest kill at any range. The MPX SMG and the M870 shotgun, also open from the start, are the picks for the tightest arenas. The L115A3 sniper one-shots to the chest or head, which is brutal down a long lane and risky in a tight one.

Move between fights
Sprint and slide to cross open space, then stop before you fight. Pressing crouch again or jumping cancels a slide and keeps your momentum, and double-tapping sprint gives a short tactical sprint.
Adapt every round
Ten round wins is a long match. Each round that ends on a kill shows a short killcam: watch where you were shot from, then change one thing next round, such as your first angle, your timing or your gun.
How to win 2v2 Gunfight
Trade, always
Stay close enough to your partner that if one of you dies, the other can kill the shooter before he moves. Two players peeking the same enemy from different angles, a crossfire, beats two players taking separate one-on-ones. After you die you can only spectate your teammate, so use that time to call out what you see.
Play the kit you were given
Both teams have the same weapons, so the question is range. On a sniper or MK2 round, hold long angles and make them come to you. On a shotgun or SMG round, use cover to close the distance. The kit lasts two rounds, so if your plan fails in the first, change it in the second.
Time your equipment
Nobody can throw anything for the first 5 seconds, so the opening seconds are pure positioning. After that, a flash before a push or a smoke across a lane is often the whole round in 2v2.
Damage is permanent
With no health regeneration, every hit you land stays. It weakens the enemy for the rest of the round and counts toward the health tiebreak if overtime runs out. If you are ahead on health late in the round, you do not have to force a fight; make them come to you or to the flag.
Win the overtime flag
The flag needs 3 seconds with only your team in the zone. One player capturing while the other covers the approaches is the classic setup. If you are behind on health, the flag is your way back: contest it, because an enemy standing in the zone resets the capture.
How to 1v1 a friend online
On the Play screen choose Create custom match, set the mode to 1v1 Duel and pick a map, then share the invite link or code. Your friend opens the link, or enters the code under Browse lobbies. The host presses Start preparation, the guest picks a class and presses Ready, and the duel begins. Keep the room invite-only so nobody else takes the seat. Want house rules, like pistols only? Agree on them in chat; the game does not enforce custom weapon rules.
Custom matches give no XP or progression, so play Quick Play when you want rewards. A 2v2 with three friends works the same way with Gunfight. More detail on parties and rooms is in the How to play guide.
